Ebullient Jan!
Fri night was spent with jo and mun..... making a jigsaw puzzle. Nothing like a quiet night at a friends' place just chatting and chilling. Thanks guys, i needed the time out.
The jigsaw - Der Kuss by Klimt Gustav

Saturday, I caught up with min at non other than Holland Village. And Phoon Huat made my day. haha...
Sunday, the family smiled and stood still in physically unnatural, but aesthetically natural positions for a family portrait. The photographer got confused and thought that dad and I were a couple. hur hur..... NOT FUNNY O_O This was followed by an insanely massive meal for gran's birthday. There aren't any photos of food this time =)
Waiting around the studio...

Yesterday, met up with Eric, Debra and Jules to watch 200 pound beauty! I thought it was really nice. It was funny, romantic, and yet had its fair share of heart warming and sad moments. After walking out of every korean movie, I'd always be in awe of how HOT the gals are....*drool* yeah... girls love admiring hot chicks.

Actually... 200 pounds might sound like ALOT... but its actually just over 90 kgs. Is that a whole heap? The movie probably portrayed her as bigger than 200 pounds.
And today.... I think i need a food cure

Back bloggin!
Ok, I've been back for 2 months now. Time is really flying past. This is the last bunch of pictures I took in the days before leaving.
February 14th
I spent my valentines day catching up with the loveliest bunch of gal pals I know in Melbourne.
Krystal... the doctor, and my first roomie in Melbourne! We had lunch at Corettos on lygon!

Then for tea, hung out with Lidia... one of my oldest friends. We knew each other when we were still peewees in primary school. And we'd been in the same places ever since. I can't believe that we're now so far from each other. We had drinks at South melbourne!
After tea, I met jen (and jo)! Went over to hers for just an hour of hurried catch up while she dolled up for her date.
15th February
This day was lenny day! =) We went to Wudok and Em's for a visit, then headed down to TGIFridays on Chapel for lunch! had a fun time shopping and taking photos in the change room. hehe. Then, I let lenny drive back to the city, while i chilled beside her.
Photowhored with my blue baby to say one last goodbye. I miss u....

That night, had a one last farewell at pacific house and then met some others at georges in camberwell. It was a hard night all right. I later spent a large part of the night at rene and stan's, where I don't even remember what I was doing. I think I was just super tired, and just emotionally drained, from the thought of leaving.
16th February
The dreaded day had finally come. =( Thank you to everyone who came to say bye. I love and miss you all.

Thanks a bunch peeps! All of you made me feel very special.

This blog entry's making me relive those last days again. So sad to even think of them.
Withdrawal
I've been window shopping online.
Its so bad, cos now I have so many lemmings from Aust.
*pouts*
the techkie and the food junkie
Thurs - Going Digital in Mustafa
Mich and I went to Mustafa for some retail therapy after cell! The variety at Mustafa always astounds me. You name it they've got it! The staff there have got indian charm.. haha... they're all nice and friendly.
My sole purpose of going was to get a cordless phone. I'm so noob k, so let me express how happy I am with this one I bought, cos I've never owned a cordless before. Its almost like a mobile! I can store names, there's a colour screen, sms feature, view missed calls, and even personalise ring tones. WOAH!
Freakin' awesome! Now i can chat to you guys in melb without any weird arse cross lines ( i hope) and with better clarity. Yay, I don't have to speak super loudly over the phone again.
It was a day of firsts.... I am now the proud owner of a digital watch! it looked so old school I just had to get one. Furthermore, it said "WATER RESIST" on the front. How could I pass up something with grammatical errors splashed right across? *grins* oh and it was so tempting at just $24.
I'm super noob! I've never owned a digital watch ( no, not even a baby G when it was all the rage =I ) so i was just randomly pressing all the buttons, without knowing what they did. somehow, the alarm kept going off while the nice watch dude was adjusting my strap. Hehe. so embarrassing... he had to teach me what and how to use the modes.
Sunday - Going jap for tea
Tea was at Sun and Moon in Wheelock place with mum! That place is so nice. Nice atmosphere, nice food...NICE

This is MT FUJIYAMA - green tea shavings with mochi and red bean paste all over the sides

Mum had an assorted platter of desserts. Choc ice cream, jelly, tofu cheesecake, and mochi

It was tea time, but I was starvin' so I ate a meal too. HEE. This chicken, salmon and mushroom in sake broth was delicious.
I had to eat everything really fast, cos they all came out at the same time, and my mt fujiyama was fast becoming "puddle fugiyama". Too much food too lil time.
This place comes highly recommended! its on level 3 at wheelock place, but its best to make a booking, because they're always booked out.

Sat - Jumbo CRAW
Went for seafood dinner a few hours after that massive tea at jumbo!
Look at the size of the "craaww"!

This time last week
Last Thursday, Fazia invited me to her parents' 25th wedding anniversary! It was an experience I tell ya! I felt like i was at a wedding. hehe. They had a DJ, and even hired a dance group. Her parents were soooo cute, they did this whole dance routine like they were in the Indian movies. You know the hero and his chick dance routine??? They looked so much in the role, acting out all the melodramatic emotions and stuff. Hee... they're so sporting. So cute.
Check out these people dancing. The guy in the front is super ENTHU. haha... quite funny actually. Sorry faz!Its just such a curious thing for me, that I have to share this. I guess I've never been exposed much to this kind of Indian dancing performed LIVE.
The freak of nature is a.....Funky TOMATO!

Dad brought them back from japan. They taste pretty much the same as any other tomato. *shrugs*
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who according to His great mercy has caused us to be
born again to a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to obtain an inheritance which is
imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away,
reserved in heaven for you..."
1 Peter 1:3 & 4
Randomosity ( I know.... there's no such word, but hey...)
I was just looking through my recent pictures and the common random theme was food. Again. hah! Somehow, food is something I always took pictures of. I'm asian. I can't help it. Or maybe its just an excuse. =)
Anyhoo... I bought all the stuff I needed for LEMON LIME BITTERS!
So nice to have in the comfort of home. I doubt I can even find it here in the restaurants. No one really knows what it is. If you ask for it on the plane, they'll just serve you Schweppes bitter lemon. =I
What goes in you ask?
Lime cordial
lemonade (ie, sprite)
And a dash of angostura bitters
Simple =)
OHH.... another find I found in the aisles of Singapore supermarkets!
DARS bitter chocolate! All these jap chockies are awesome! I finished the whole box in a night. Too indulgent, but heck it. I love to eat.
I haven't had one of these for YEARS! It oozes so much oil... its amazing. hah. The bread is like a seasoned sponge soaked in oil and covered in heaps of mayo. Definitely not for the health conscious. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, its called roti john (for those of you who have no clue). Its a bread roll sliced in 2, with an egg omelette mixture fried into the inner surface.
Anyone of you had geoduck (pronounced "gooey duck")? Call me clueless, but when dad ordered a geoduck and a peking duck in the same night, I questioned " are you in the mood for duck or what? Why are we having 2 duck dishes?" He lets out a laugh... and people, this is geoduck...
Its that fist sized clam with a long "trunk" sticking outta the side. haha. It tastes a lil fishy, but yet sweet. if you ask me, i think its over rated. Just like abalone. if you ask me, I'll have something else for half the price, anytime.
Now, this is the somewhat random bit. This is what I saw on my way home tonight. Are you ready?

EWWWWWWWWWWW
How off does it look? We only get such giant snails here! I recall accidentally stepping on one when i was a kid. UGHH....Felt so guilty when i heard the crunch of the shell, and felt the gooey slug stick to my sole like slime. poooweee
on an after thought. snails are quite yummy. haha. its all different when you see them on a plate with sauce all over.
Happy easter!
This is the first Easter I've spent in singas in 6 years!
its so different. For one, I'm not actually doing anything in church for it. Feels kind of weird. My church doesn't even have a good friday service. ??? or even any event. Feels like any other day. Unfortunately.
You know what else i miss?
HOT CROSS BUNS!!
Arghhh.... i love raisin loafs, and raisins in soft buns... ahhh... even better. Especially when they're warm and buttered up. MMMmmmMMMM... My mouth is watering.
Well... thank you Jesus! For dying on the cross today eons ago. =)
Willl update more soon with some pictures!
shacked to the max!
I'm laying in bed, with some comfy pillows propping my head up. Without which I would just
slump into a stupor. Actually, I think I already am in stupor.
Bedtime = 1030pm
Its been a long weekend.
Goodnight.
