Ebullient Jan!
teeheehee
Ok... so i'm blogging at work.... shoot me. hahah
This week's been heaps heaps heaps better. No immediate deadlines.
Today I wore these heels.... bad idea. Janice + heels = super freak. Seriously! People in Singapore have a really bad habit of staring! i felt like a walking freakshow at lunch. I guess... normally when i wear heels i already get alot of crap from everyone.

Just because i wear gianormous sunnies, dress up, and hate the sun.... everyone says i'm so "tai tai". =( I don't like being called that, but i'm fitting into that stereotype in singapore. =( been meeting alot of new people recently and all of them call me tai tai. I think its insulting. I've never dreamt to be one, and don't want to be one. I want to be a glamourous housewife. haha... YES there is a difference.
ok... will blog more when i get home. Tmr is a public holiday! WOOT
Blog posts will definitly be decreasing from now on. No time to blog. And I foresee no life to blog about other than work. haha.
This was last fri... my last weekday of freedom. Had yummy porridge at tiong bahru with the folks.

That same night, went to PS Cafe with andrea and triana! loved it. Reminds me so much of isa brown in glenferrie. pretty pricey tho

Yesterday, went to mun's new gianormous house. Pictures are of her room! Its as big as a studio apartment. So freaking nice. Then had a lil shop ard at ikea.
Back to work tmr! Not all that gloomy yet, but will be once i get assigned more stuff tmr.
tata
2days
How's the job going you ask?
OK....
There are things I like and things that I don't, but hopefully the scale will be tipped to the LIKE side more in the future.
One thing I don't like that i think will not change
They play chinese radio at work all day! -_-
I'm tired... I need to get into a routine.
Its late, and I have work to do.
Tata for now.
The elusive first job
I start work on monday!
Such mixed feelings. Happy. Sad. Excited. Doubtful. Nerves.
Why happy? Well... that means my brain is going to be put to use. I'll be learning new things, =) Oh... and i get to dress casual to work cos its considered in the creative industry. Yippee
Why sad? I had great plans to visit melbourne before i started work, but the firm insisted i start coming monday. I couldn't even sleep the day I got the offer, not because I got a job, but because it could mean i might have hopped onto a plane as soon as sunday to melbourne. Well, these plans are dashed.
Excited... I wonder what its going to be like transiting to a new stage in life! Who will I work with? What are they going to be like? what will i be doing on the job?
Doubtful.... Is this job really right? Sigh... there are pros and cons of it. Too much to list.
Nerves... I'M NOT READY! But i always remember what em said about life. You are never ready to move on to your next stage in life, but you just got to push yourself into it. I just didn't expect to get offered a job on the spot and made to start 4 days later.
Ok... the golden question I've been swarmed with. What job, which firm? Marketing consulting.... small local firm (a name you wouldn't have even heard of) great opportunity to learn heaps and network.
Please be praying for me. I'm getting on a roller coaster to somewhere i've never been and I'd love to have a seat belt.
Wish I were there in melbourne with you, you, you and you
the EEeeekend
Dragged myself out of the house on sat late arvo. And my plans of meeting 1 friend to catch up became 3
Saw junie first... then bumped into anita who was about to finish up at work, so had coffee yet again, then met mun for dinner.
while we were waiting for a ride home. =)

I spent the whole of mothers day out at church and hanging out with eric. hah! so i got the guilts and decided to bake a chocolaty choc cashew brownie for mum yesterday. She's always bugging me to bake something for her. She's my biggest baked goods fan. And was happy to come home to the smell of something in the oven.

Went on down to esplanade for elvin's jazz performance. Hmm... I'm really not a jazz type of person. I'm too mainstream to appreciate jazz. mainstream jazz is as close as i'd go.

I went to mustafa last night AGAIN. haha. There's just nothing better to do late at night in singas. Look at this funky contraption from Japan. Its used to style spiky hair for the dudes. How random? Looks like a mini lobster.

Peace out. =)
**Splish Splash**
I'm in such a slump today.
Weekends are the worst when I'm here.
It just reinforces the fact that I have nothing to do. And no one to do anything with.
I get bored, am lonely and get so full of self pity.
Self pity is so WEAK. *smacks janice's self pity into a pulp with a large mallet*
But for now, I just feel like melting into a puddle and disappearing.
its one of those.... " i hate my life" moments
Maybe its PMS speaking now.
Why are women made to be so emotionally driven and attached?
Only God knows.
math whiz
I had an interview yesterday with Kumon. And just to let us have a feel of what the students go through, they gave us a math test! haha. How funny is that?
So i asked GG to give me a crash course to refresh my memory the day before.
This was his awesome drawing on msn... trying to teach me linear equations.
More of his great drawings....
My dismal efforts...
All this info didn't come to use tho. Haha. The math paper was full of adding of fractions and decimals, division, multiplication...etc. Not hard so to say, but just tedious. Doubt anyone finished the whole thing, cos there were so many questions! 10 mins into it I was already exhausted. My neck was hurting from looking down at the super low chair desk, but yet i couldn't crick my neck cos it would be pretty loud in that silence.
That same night, julia and I went to Jive and Tango class! I was very excited to go.... BUT, when we got there apprehension set in. The studio looked dodge, and there were 30 people in a class!
I pretty much switched off 20 minutes into the class. So i did terribly. I couldn't even see the instructor half the time.
Note to self: Never go for another NUS organised event.
Why?
1. Their events are full of 1st yrs (youngens make me feel OLD)
2. University events are low budget = less quality control. haha
Julia and I left there vowing never to return again. muahahahaha. Quite dissapointing though, cos I was looking forward to a dance class after not being in one for years.
I shall just stick to art classes. hehe. Pottery class anyone?
Choc full of activities!
Thurs
I brought my lil kiwi cousin ice skating! We planned to go to the zoo... but it was pouring!
Initially, I wanted to join her in the ring, but everyone else there was almost half my height and were such whizzes that I got too embarrassed! haha. I just ended up watching her. I had to even pay just to watch. pftt... And I can never understand why singapore skating rings require skaters to wear gloves???
Friday
Yay! I've been hanging out with mun and joel for the past few fridays, and its been fun =)
I met mandy at my old primary school (where she's teaching) for lunch. Forgot to take photos though. Its all so different now.
In the evening, we headed down to Joel's as usual, and played scrabble TAKE TWO! Its pretty fun! Everyone starts with 4 tiles, then when you form a word with those you have, you yell out take 2! Everyone has to take 2 more tiles every time someone finishes using their tiles, and we just have to keep up till all tiles are used.
My web of words.
Mandy's web of words
After a giant "gelat" dinner at pasta fresca, we decided to bake!
Monsta joe the choc baking chef
Baking goodness

Joel's tray of cookies/my tray on the right

Saturday
Did NOTHING.... when I could have been at rally =( Can we set up video conferencing for the next one? hehe. Am I asking for too much?

Sunday
Joe and I went for a silver ring making course!!! It was pretty fun =) We all thought that Joel would end up being the only guy in the class of eight, but boy were we wrong! In fact, among the 3 boys, he was the slimmest. hahahaha. Double bonus!
There's joel burnishing (compacting the metal particles for the tiffany shine!) my ring for me/ I'm wearing joel's meteorite looking ring, and he's wearing my ribbon inspired ring./The tools/My ring... which i gave to mum for mother's day.
Monday
I went for an interview today. It was super dodgy! pooo job.
Why oh why do I only get calls from positions I don't want!
Anyway, I'm feeling pretty happy since the weekend. =) let's just keep it that way
Oh yes... i know why... Cos i heard the voices of you guys whom I miss so much. Thanks for ringing me QUENT! And it was nice chatting to all of you from bluehill, haha...Quent, Timbah, Nicky noob, & Franny! you made my day, and brought a wide smile across my face.
Food cures
Feels like I haven't blogged in awhile...
about a week back...
Julia brought me out for a food cure during a crappy feeling week. We went all the way to East Coast just to have dinner! Before dinner, she went for a run, while i just sat at the beach enjoying the waves gently rushing in. All i can say is, sitting by the beach alone, at night... when sad.... is quite depressing. haha. So don't do it.
We had sambal stingray (AWESOME) hokkien prawn mee (so so) barbecue chicken wings (yumm) and fragrant coconuts! Food cures always make you feel better after.
Saturday
Saturday was date day with dad. Mum was away in hongkong painting the shopping district red. We went out to KO at intercontinental. Love it there. A little wagyu here and there makes jan happy peppy. Thanks pops.
Monday
I made some lemon tart for a party Julia invited me to! It was a good tart, but weird party.
It was a party full of swedish people on exchange at local universities. Talk about blond hair blue eyed. It was everywhere! They're a bunch of pretty good looking people. There was this dude who seriously looked like he came straight out of a magazine. He had the innocent charm of a boy, but yet the look of a man. He was pretty hot to say the least. I'll have to show you a pic when i get it off someone.
Honestly, eftoni and I couldn't wait to just leave, cos it was kind of boring, and we were being social recluses. hahaa.... in ef's words "I've never felt so stuck ever". She wanted to make a quick getaway when we went back to the car to get her bag, and leave julia behind. haha. We made up an excuse and left as soon as the tart could be dished out to join another crowd at the club for some bowling, pool and bridge later.
Well... at least we left after learning one thing.... How to pronounciate IKEA the swedish way
Its not EE KIA (The Singapore way)
Nope... not even AI KEE YA (The Aussie way)
Its EE KAYER (The only way to go)
Now if only i can bother to remember....=)
Tuesday

Spiderman 3....in one word.... sucks. The plot of the movie was everywhere, without any focus. Too much talking and love lorn moments between Spidey and MJ, and Venom only appears late in the second half. It just felt like a really really draggy movie that stretched over more than 2 hours. I say, don't go unless its tight arse tues, you have the time to spare, and please don't drink too much water mid show, or you'll be busting for the loo. If it were a dvd, i might have just played it at 2 times the speed.
