  Ninja turtles!

How in the world did this...

Become this?

Watched the movie with Julia this evening. It was pretty corny. But entertaining I guess.

Watching the turtles now as an adult made a world of difference. You realise how weird and whack the concept of them as heros are

1. They are human sized turtles that walk and talk
2. They are Ninjas that originate in the States
3. Their "father" is a kung fu master rat with an asian accent

I applaude the people who created these characters! How did they imagine such stories, and make them such a hit?

Didn't realise that the whole movie was an animation till it started. I guess it was good that I went in without any expectations. The turtles are awfully skinny (compared to before) but had massive calf muscles the size of lead bricks. I guess back then, the ideal well built man looked like Arnie. Just MASSIVE all over. But in modern times, they prefer the sculpted and toned look? Ala..... errr.... I dunno. hehe

  More backdated photos

I still have bunch of photos from my last week in melb!
10 feb

This was us pretending to be Marcs models at the YA dinner. Marcs should hire us. uh huh..

After that long dinner, we headed to robot bar on off flinders lane! Woopdeedoo! It was the biggest turnout for an unplanned YA thingy. it was so fun taking wacky photos!

12 feb

I went to DFO to do some serious shopping with serene. man. I burnt a major major hole in my pocket that day. *ahem* (dad's pocket actually)

We were done shopping pretty early, so tim suggested we head down to brighton! Can you believe that was the first time I'd seen those colourful beach huts in melb? It was my first time in the suburb of brighton too. Serene was such a whinger at the beach. haha. Uh HuH... you heard me right! I thought i was bad in the sun.... but she's worst! I was mildly complaining about the heat and how I don't wanna get a tan.... SHE, YES YOU.... majorly hated the heat and sun. hahaa... she couldn't stop asking us to leave. I forced her to smile and pose for photos. hahahaha. You're so cute serene!

That same night, I managed to squeeze in a 2 in 1 meeting with eftoni and angelin! One highschool mate + one uni mate = happy happy!

I think there's probably at least one more set of photos from my last week of melb to be posted!

I'm on a blogging streak. Shows how much time i spend on my lappy. I can't believe i spent yet another fri night at home. oh well.. =)

  YARHnoose
Had to change the blog addy. I think that was the only way to fix the blank blog issue some people were facing. Plus the fact that after i played around with blog names, I couldn't get -jan- back again. Blogger is tempermental... it now decided not to take dashes in front of words. Oh well...

Yanoose + Yarhn = Yarhnoose

I'm lucky to have so many nicknames to choose from. haha. Peepaw came in a close second I must say, but it was taken anyway.

peace out

  hunters of the world unite!

Weds, jules and mich came over to my place to do some corporate job hunting. hahaa....

Whinging, complaining, but yet encouraging each other in our quest for the perfect job!... sigh

After so many days of being out, i had a lil me time today at home.

I don't mind staying home, but the worst thing about it is that there isn't anything to eat. Rar. There's no hawker near by, no shops to buy food from. nothing. pantry = boring. except for some instant noodles.

For dinner, I had....

Have you melbournites had dragon fruit before? Its hard to describe really. Its has the texture of a kiwi fruit, but tastes quite bland. Mildly sweet. I think people only buy it cos it looks so funky. it tastes so ordinary.

I'm craving al ameen prata. but no one is free to go with me. =(

Was nice chatting to you tonight GG! I'm gg to be a nag everytime you call, so deal with it! haha...xx

Thunder and Lightning... very very frightening

I’m home alone! I’d forgotten how lightning looked like till now. It’s flashing like crazy out there…. ZZzapp… Zaap zap…. Ok…. Actually it’s not that frightening. Haha… I’m in the safety of my room, all cosy in bed and under my doona =)

I’ve just been catching up with a lot of girlfriends since last week!

Friday, met faiza in none other than Holland village…. Again for the second time in the week

Saturday, went out with Julia, Michelle and Nicola!

Headed down to the NUS Jazz band night to support Jule’s friends. Can I say.. the singers were scary. I couldn’t bear to lift my head up to watch them sway from side to side very unattractively the whole time. It didn’t help that we were so critical at every angle. Julia was on my left nudging me the whole time cos she couldn’t stand the host’s inability to be articulate. And Michelle couldn’t help but point out how the host was “nippy”. I being miss aesthetics couldn’t stand the arrangement of the stage (tut tut… they didn’t even tape down the wires properly! Hehe.. tacky tacky)

Afterwhich we went to St James. Jules told me we weren’t there to club. And I didn’t know that it was a massive clubbing complex! I thought st james was a pub?

Anyhoo…I must say I’m very impressed with the whole concept. Though I doubt I’d go very much. =) We made use of our “charm” and WIT… to get a parking lot saved for Porsches, Maserati, and Lamborghinis right in front of the club! Haha… it really pays to go out with a bunch of girls sometimes. Security guards love smiley girls. Haha.

Sunday, spent time with denise….where else but Holland village! Hahaha. I think I’m getting better with being aggressive in finding a park in that hoity-toity expat area.

Monday night was yet again more time spent with the chicks! Met Triana and Mich. Monsta Joe joined in for a tad at the end! Have a happy holiday in melb joe!

Tonight was dinner with old sch mate june.

Yawn… its late. My eyelids are almost glued shut. Night. Xx

P.S. Now I know what some of you mean when you say my blog is blank. I can’t see it too today for some weird reason. Anyone knows how to fix it?

  I wanna be a dictionary

This week is full of one on ones with gal pals

Met mun on tues for lunch and a movie. We had a "korean" day out, now that I think about it. First, there was korean cosmetic shopping, then korean lunch at this restaurant in heeran ( don't go there!) and then caught a korean romantic comedy which was really cute =) haha... singapore is invaded with a korean obsession at the moment!

Met eftoni on wednesday for coffee!

She persuaded me to play scrabble... lol. She whipped out this little pocket sized scrabble set from her bag when i finally agreed.

I lost.... naturally... cos i'm not a brain and neither am I a dictionary

No points for guessing which word i was thinking of when i saw this on my set of tiles... haha

it rains like crazy here! It's almost as though God filled up" gigantore" sized bathtubs and decided to pour it out of the clouds just to see us get all wet for a joke. hehe... actually, kind of reminds me of how i used to drown ants in giant water droplets for fun. haha. ooopps

Driving in the rain was pretty scary. i could hardly see at all! but thank goodness i wasn't on the street , cos the brollie i would have to use probably had to be the size of a football field to keep me dry. if you were walking on the sidewalk when a car passed, you'd probably get knocked unconscious, only to find out later that you were hit by a mini tsunami.

Thurs was day out with mum. We hit the shops cos Isetan was having a private sale. I got my very first shopping item since getting back! A top from Zara... so happy =) Not bad considering I've been back for a month!
Ok.. sorry for more food photos... but... LOOK! The salmon roe is not only so big and juicy, but the pile... oh so impressive! Besides that, there was a squid/seaweed pile which was even taller. The sweet lady at the counter gave me a sample of squid.... it was MMmmmm...

Ok, here's my recommendation....

if you happen to be in Singapore, go to the isetan shaw supermarket and go to their chilled fresh dessert section ( it faces the checkout counters). Pick up this little gem for only $1.50! It's so much better than the cakes or soufflés you get in some of the bakeries/cafes. I'm gonna get addicted to them. It melts in your mouth like a cross between a rich chocolate mousse and cake. OH.... heavenly

On a random note... I slept with no ac for the first time since i've been back. Wanted to conserve power and at the same time prevent my skin from drying out. Terrible idea! Had such a sleepless and humid night. Unbearable. haha. Thank God for the invention of ac.

Its 4 more days till I've been here a month. I feel like its been heaps longer. =(

The weekend was quiet. Met few people, did few things. I guess I'll treasure it more in the future when I'll be too busy to do nothing.

Met min on sat... this is the only pic i took this weekend.

Didn't do anything interesting to blog about. I went to the bank today? haha.... and going to lil india for dinner later...

P.S. oh yeah, just remembered that I still have more backlogged photos from melb to put up! I'll do it tmr....

  Open doors
Phew.... I just came back from cell.

Met new people, made small talk. Made lots of small talk in fact!

I actually went to one ytd too. Quite celled out! Especially since cos in melb, our cell's so slack and meet only once a fortnight. And most of the time we just chill! haha

I couldn't help comparing what's different! WAHHH... I miss singing aussie christian praise and worship for starters! All these "hosanna" style songs sound so ..... errr..... (-_-)

God is opening so many doors for me though! Now i know how it feels like to be a "new visitor" again. Its been easier than I imagined as God has led me to some key people. Met an american missionary/youthworker this week, and there might be a possibility of me going into international schools here for youth ministry! Sounds so exciting! Will have to see if that's what God wants for me 1st though, as I haven't exactly settled down even on a church!

People have been asking me, "What have you been up to?" I've been saying "organising my life" haha. So far, it's still quite a mess? I don't know where the week went. Sigh. And i have a MASSIVE bruise on my shin from trying to manoeuvre around my mess for a room and hitting the side of my bed instead. YOWZER

Caught up with the 2 birthday boys of the week today

Talked to Dr hums today too... And here's a quote from him to end this post

"pretty much every woman is hums, they just pretend they're innocent.... all lies!"

He thinks we're all hums like him.... hahaha.... I could feel his humsupness crossing international borders through the net.... *shivers* haha... you know I'm just joking right doc?

  Sprucing up the room!

Went to Ikea ("EE KIA" to the singaporeans) yesterday to pick up a bunch of stuff to spruce up my room! Bought some lights, shelving, and all that other lil storage solutions to fit into my limted space here for the millions of things i brought back from melbourne. =) And what's a trip to ikea without having some swedish meatballs? Yumm... haha. Please thank me for not posting a photo of them.

Back to some backlogged photos...

These were from 7th feb. It was a super surprise to see people jump out of the bush in fitzroy gardens just to bid me farewell. Haha... it was very well planned, and sweet of all of you to come (even though some of you worked that day)

  The yearly KL trip
I'm finally back from KL! The trip got extended by a day and a half cos tim got his flight changed, and they tempted me to stay with more yummy food. haha!

I've seen a side of tim that i've never had before... He is such a shopping monster! He takes like FOREVER to decide on something! We spend 1 to 2 hours at each store and we walk out empty handed. I guess its also because he has "special" (aka abnormal) measurements that don't fit off the rack clothes.

This was Jessica and I being absolutely bored at the end of the first day out shopping with tim, who's looking for work clothes.

So for dinner on the second night, we had Cheras satay! Apparently its supposed to be famous *shrugs*. We also had some home made yong tau fu and curry.

That same night, Tim's dad showed some malaysian hospitality and drove all the way down to kl for some famous beef noodles! It was yum yum. There were beef balls in soup, yummy noodles in beef sauce and some stomach soup. The place looked really dodgy by the side of the road. And my eyes widened when they said "look out for rats"... errr... nothing that clean tastes good anyway. haha

So by the 3rd day in the morning, I was all packed up and ready to go. Took pictures with Tim's million pets. He has a dog, fluffy, who's the cutest! A canary, cockatoo, and tanks of coral fish. not to mention a koi pond out the front.

My "last meal" before I was about to leave was just some maggi goreng paired with some teh o ais limau (learnt this from sonja last trip)

But, tim and jess tempted me to stay with this...

The prawns were frikin awesome!

And what was a trip to Kl without having a ramley burger? I've been to KL soooo many times and I've never had one. So after the ridiculously crazy seafood dinner, jess and I drove out to get some burgers! hahahah. They are seriously unhealthy! standing there watching the guy make them is quite scary. We ordered the special ayam and special beef burger. I think the only reason that these burgers are good is because it is so full of planta, mayo and sauce all over! I was pretty impressed at how an omelette wrapped around the pattie. hehe

For lunch before I left.. FOR REAL... we walked past this "fried food truck" haha. We bought this fried fish sticks thing, and fried chempedak! The chempedaks were from another world. lol. While waiting for the chempedaks to be fried, so many people asked for chicken nasi lemak. So we being asian, also decided to buy some too. lol

So you see, that was supposed to be the end of my trip, and I was due to catch the 7pm bus back to singapore. But.... we went shopping again before I left, and someone, *ahem* not naming names, was being a shopping monster. So much so that I missed the 7pm bus, and had to take the 9pm one. They tried to convince me to stay another night, haha, but i was broke as a joke

I've learnt alot about tim this trip! And these are his favourite words:

See how
Later la
Maybe
Up to you
think about it
Come back later
Can also
Sort of
